My Love Story with Flodesk
If you’re subscribed to my newsletter, you might have noticed my long hiatus. I originally used MailChimp as my emailing platform, but struggled with designing the email to match my aesthetics. I was going to give up all together until I discovered Flodesk, a new email platform, that has changed the way I think and feel about email marketing. From the moment I signed up, I knew Flodesk was the one for me and this is our love story.
Love at first site
I got an email from Honeybook, a CRM software that I also use and love, to join the #upmyemailgame challenge. I was immediately intrigued to join because I had no email game at all and I was desperate to learn. I clicked the link and it sent me to the Flodesk homepage. My reaction: Love at first site! Flodesk’s aesthetics aligned with my vision of what I wanted my business to be: cool, classy, and chic. Once I signed up, I was instantly attracted to their email templates, with their cool graphics, clean background, and fun layouts. I mean look at the difference between my welcome letter I created in MailChimp vs Flodesk! I know, it really is love!

Can’t get enough of it
Since Flodesk took care of the design portion of my emails, I could focus on creating content for my audience. I no longer wanted boring, one-sided newsletters, but instead emails that promote conversations, provide valuable content, and build relationships with my audience. With the help of Flodesk email templates, I am now able to create a variety of emails catering to my goal of building a community, such as freebies, resource guides, sale promotions, fun bi-weekly questionnaires, and so much more! Also, the #upmyemailgame challenge allowed me to create a year worth of emails in less than a month!
Learning new things
I had a very hard time understanding email segmentation, but thanks to Flodesk I no longer have that problem! Basically, email segmentation involves grouping subscribers into categorizes. For example, I have two segments: one that targets wedding couples interested in wedding stationery and my services (C’est Couples), and one that targets individuals interested in learning calligraphy (C’est Calligraphy). These segments will receive different emails that is catered to their interests.
The workflow is an automatic system that allows you to send emails in a timely manner. When someone signs up to your email list, you can automate it so that they receive the freebie checklist immediately. The next day, you can arrange your welcome letter to be sent to your new subscriber. This gives you more time working on creating new emails, and less than stressing out what emails to send next!

Great support system
Since I had no game in email marketing, I initially had a lot of questions. Fortunately, Flodesk has been nothing but helpful and encouraging. I’ve contacted them via direct message and they responded very quickly. They did their best to answer my questions and provided links to tutorial videos from other creatives. These tutorial videos were helpful because you got to see how Flodesk has helped other creatives in their email marketing and in their businesses.
Flodesk does have a subscription plan of $38 a month. However, if you use this link you’ll get 50% off every month for as long as you use the platform, that’s $19 a month! It’s an investment that I know is worth it for my business. However, if you are still unsure, Flodesk does offer a one-month free trial so definitely take advantage of that!
I hope you’re exciting about my future emails as much as I am. I’m no longer sending boring, unattractive newsletters, and instead I’m sending fun letters to my old and new friends! So let’s be email pals and sign up to email list today! I hope to hear from you soon, friend!
